Ricky; Yes yous have to take bound and bolt out, simply if information technology'due south not leaking just leave information technology lonely, the just time it leakes here, is if you overtighten the bolt and damage the seal.
Good luck.

Hi,

But fitted a new filter to my 990. Mine came with two washers. The little one for the commodities
is straight forwards. Mine too came with a white nylon washer which obviuosly fitted into the recess
in the filter. Attempt as I did, I couldn't become the niggling sod to stay in identify while I put to comprehend on.
I noticed that one wasn't fitted before so left information technology out, thinking it must be for use with another application.
As both end of the filter were similarly located against apartment metal, I couldn't run across why there wasn't 2 washers.

Another poster recently noted how fiddly it is to become the filter to stay in place while the embrace is put on, solving problem by "sticking" filter in place with a fiddling instant gasket. I used a smear of grease to the same issue. The in a higher place point but relevent when pump withal on tractor.

All the best,

Bernie.

Try putting the filter into the housing and let information technology hang on the bolt. Then gently manouver information technology on to the locating stub on the pump. I found this to exist the easiest method.

Sounds like you sourced a new pump - where did you find one in the finish? It's useful for others reading the posts who might have similar problems in the future.

I establish a used steering pump hither in the states. At that place are new pumps available in Canada and French republic. I simply recieved the used pump last nighttime. It feels solid simply the test will be this weekend when I go to my farm and install information technology and meet if it leaks fluild into my crankcase.

I emailed "Robert Taylor and Sons at Bentham" and they can get a new pump for the 1594. The shipping volition exist approximatly $100 to the states. They sound like practiced people to me. (US Slang)

Topcat, if the washer your talking about is a nylon one information technology is a new sealing washer for your fill up/level plug. I got one when i got my new filter.

.......nylon 1 it is a new sealing washer for your fill/level plug

Now why didn't I realise that. Couldn't understand why but one was supplied if they were for the filter ends.
Unfortunate co-incidence that they are only the right diameter to fit the filter. As for the filler plug, I used a spare dowty washer, probably bunged the nylon 1.

Just goes to confirm what a super site this is.

Regards,

Bernie.

On the earlier pump filler/plug the sealing ring was a Dowty aluminium washer with rubber sealing inner ring. The later ones were fitted with the plastic one. ( White nylon or plastic washer with tabs on the within to grip over the filler hole lip).
